Mission

The mission of the Behavioral Concerns and Threat Assessment Team (“the team”) is to support and enhance the health, safety, and well-being of the university community through the identification, assessment, intervention, and management of persons and/or situations that may reasonably pose a threat of harm to themselves or others, or of serious disruption to the university.

Purpose

To support and enhance the health, safety, and well-being of the university community.

Scope

Includes all University of Florida facilities and community. The UF community consists of its students, employees, visitors, and other non-affiliates. The Team purview covers all university owned, controlled, or leased properties and individuals involved in university events or programs.

Authority

The team has the authority to act on behalf of the university to fulfill its mission and purpose, consistent with university regulations and policies. The team does not function as a disciplinary, personnel, or law enforcement body but may recommend actions to appropriate university offices.

The team shall consult with and report to the Vice President of Business Affairs and Vice President of Student Life, as appropriate. The Vice President of Business Affairs and Vice President of Student Life will provide periodic updates on the Team’s operations and activities to the University President.
